2022 Breeders' Cup Results & Recap of Picks
Congrats to Flightline in his Take-Off in the Classic!
It was special watching him dominate the field so easily in the $6 Million Championship race! "This is one of the great horses of all-time" were the words spoke by his trainer after the race.
In his 6 career races he dominated winning by a total of 71 combined lengths! The race was run as expected with Life is Good (9-1) shooting out of the gate to take the lead with Flightline taking up a stalking position as they opened up a 10 length lead on the field. Flightline continued racing within 3 lengths of the pace setter until the far turn where he began to move on Life is Good and taking over the lead at the top of the stretch. Flightline quickly began to increase his lead as Life is Good started his retreat and the only question was who would finish behind him to complete the Superfecta. It was the winner of 2 "Win and You're In" Challenges races, Olympiad (27-1), who was racing back in 5th place until the top of the stretch where he kicked in to pass Taiba (8-1) who had been racing along the inside saving ground until the Mile pole where he moved up to 3rd but could not hold off Olympiad and finished 3rd. All the while the Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike (25-1) was racing near the back of the field hoping for quick fractions being set up front that would fade so he could close like he did in the KY Derby. Well it almost worked out that with the exception of Flightline fading! But Life is Good did and Taiba could not keep up and he was able to make up ground in the stretch to complete the Superfecta! Flightline will without a doubt win the Eclipse Award for Horse-of-the-Year and Best Older Horse-of-the-Year!
The bad news came the following day when it was announced that Flightline would be retired to the breeding shed and would not race again.
This is how the "Money" in the sport is a "Detriment" to the sport itself denying Horse Racing Fans the excitement and pleasure as well as attracting new fans to the sport! Flightline racing for one more year would be a tremendous benefit to the sport. But then again I do not own him.

It was a crazy Triple Crown Series this year starting with an (80-1) Upset winner in the KY Derby who decided to skip the Preakness Stakes and Chad Brown winning another Preakness Stakes with a runner that choose not to run in the KY Derby and then Todd Pletcher taking down the Exacta in the Belmont Stakes!
As a result, there is no 3-year old horse that is a standout to win year end awards so the Mid-Summer Derby at Saratoga will be key in who wins those awards at the end of the year. Stay tuned!
Total Day 1 Winnings - $1,118.97
